About five kilometers south-west of the more famous cluster of monuments on Mamai Heights, at the corner of Kalinin Street and Worker-Peasant Street (yes, that's a real street name), is a small park with a statue atop an obelisk dedicated to the NKVD and Militias who fought in the battle of Stalingrad. It is here in "Chekist Square" that Russians can pay their respects specifically to the 10th NKVD and their struggle at Mamayev Kurgan, should they wish.

"To the chekists, counterintelligence officers on the Stalingrad Front, soldiers and officers of the 10th NKVD Division, workers of the militias, whom died defending the city from the German-Fascists. August 1942 to February 1943."

Also in Volgograd is a street named after the division, right between Victory Park and the big theatre house, a stone's throw away from Fallen Heroes plaza. On one of the corners is a memorial plague.

Spoiler:

It reads: "This street is named after the men of the 10th NKVD Division whom heroically defended Stalingrad in August through to October of 1942. For the tenacity and wholesale heroism of its soldiers, the division received the honorary title of 'Stalingradskaya' and was awarded the Order of Lenin."
