Were apolitical unit but i think we can share our views. Myself, im Marxist-Leninist, member of the Communist party of Finland and im part of Leftist youth in here.

It is nonsense to start discussing more about politics besides your own opinion, there are other forums for it.

I suppose if I have to label myself, I'm a democratic socialist... or am I social democrat? I don't think the proletariat revolution is necessary or inevitable, but through gradual changes within the already existing system, and with open discussion and transparency at all levels of government, society will strive towards equality.... even if it doesn't happen in our lifetimes.

I think the Soviets accomplished a lot of great things in education, industrialization, modernizing agriculture etc. etc., but the militarism, corruption, and totalitarian suppression of free expression and discourse that plagued the nation at all times from 1917 right up to its collapse is something that can't be ignored or excused. Take the NKVD for example: there were probably many good men who believed in the principles of their nation and genuinely wanted to maintain cohesion and order for everyone's benefit, but then you have the careerists and opportunists who play into the faction-politics and plot each other's murders... and you have things like the Katyń massacre that smear the entire organization.

Here in Canada we have two communist parties and a number of socialist ones. In fact in my riding there's a Marxist-Leninist candidate on the ballot, but they're only really relevant in local politics. They've never had a seat in the House of Commons or anything. Canadians, as a rule, are not a radical nation and always look at iconoclastic rhetoric with suspicion.

In my opinion communism is the way some people react to the many injustuses they see around them in their every day lives, when I first read about communism I used to think I would like to be a communist or at the very least some kind of socialist, but people change and you have to adapt to the situation and surroundings you find yourself mired in and I'm afraid these days I'm a staunch conservative Brit. In fact, when I was a squaddie in the British Army of the Rhein, we were trained to re-act to a communist invaision of the west, I don't think I would have thought twice about ripping into a bunch of communists with a GPMG if I'd had the chance. So, there you go guys I'm no communist, you'll have to send me on the suicide missions like the red army did with its penal battalions I'm afraid.

First off I want to say that I have visited Estonia a couple of times, and have met and like the the people from the Baltic states.

However I think the governments (a seperate matter from individual people) of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are full of shit on this issue. And they also treat ethnic Russians who live in these states as second-class citizens which is petty and reprehensible.

Lithuanian court defines swastika as “historic legacy,” not Nazi symbol

A court in the Lithuanian city of Klaipeda has ruled in favor of four men who displayed swastikas at the national independence parade, stating the image is part of the country’s historic legacy and not a Nazi symbol.
Ending the three-month case, the court justified its decision by citing the fact that a swastika is a centuries-old symbol representing the sun and found on numerous historic artifacts.

“It is not a Nazi attribute, but a valuable symbol of the Baltic culture, an ancient sign of our ancestors, which had been stolen from them and treacherously used by other peoples,” stated one of the witnesses for the defense.
Previously, swastikas have been displayed in Lithuania on May Day, and once in front of the Presidential Palace in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, IA Regnum news agency reports. Neither of the instances had prompted police or legal action.

What I believe in? The simplest way I can put it is; "A free market economy inside the structure of a welfare state."

In other words, I don't mind someone making a Ruble or three for themselves, but for them not to be zhadni svolochi, have social responsibility and help others less fortunate. (kak babushki e vetranov)

Communism was seen as a way to narrow the gap between the dirty poor and the filthy rich, which in my eyes was a good idea. You can disagree but Lenin's communism was better than Stalin's. According to Lenin any businesses with 20 employees or under could be privately owned, and he wasnt so big with the collective farm idea. But, being one of the dirty poor in my democratic society, and it disgusts me to see people like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton who, have MORE money than they could POSSIBLY SPEND!, and here i am getting the little scraps of tax money here and there. The main idea when communism formed was to protect the right of the factory workers who earned like $1 an hour.

And btw, Slavic is a race and the Slavic race is the entire eastern europe, including northeast and southeast.

Anyways, love me or hate me

I am 50% slavic. Mother is from Poland and father from Denmark and currently I live in Denmark. Personally I'd label myself a liberal on the right wing, and ive never been fond of the Communist ideals or what it turned out to be. I am however interessted in the story of the Soviet Union, and ive read Das Capital and a biography of Joseph Stalin and Lenin. Ive also got an old soviet officer hat and a uniform, simply because I think its cool and pretty. But yea i can still respect the beliefs of my fellow comrades, even though I dont agree Smile
